Hokkaido Mahogany Obsidian

Obsidian is formed from volcanic eruptions by magma after it has cooled. The lava cools so rapidly that there is not enough time for crystals to be formed. This obsidian is from Hokkaido in Japan and has a unique red and black color. The red color obsidian is also known to many as mahogany and blends in within the black obsidian making it a beautiful piece which was handpicked directly by HSP. The red is caused mostly by iron, magnetite and hematite inclusions that exist within the crystal formation. The top of the stone resembles a crest of a wave and the red and blacks on the obsidian are distributed across the stone giving it a unique look with a smooth polished and wavelike surface. This obsidian will blend in with most surroundings and is suitable for placing on a lounge table or bookshelf whether it be at home or in the office. 

Mahogany obsidian can offer strength and relief of tensions and is linked to two types of chakra, the root chakra and the sacral chakra. The root chakra is associated with helping us with grounding and connectedness to the Earth.
